February 19, 2020 Kindergarten Students embark on educational tour

Travelling is part of education. It enhances the knowledge of the learners beyond the four walls of the classroom. Educational tours do not only enhance the knowledge of the students but also broadens their outlook towards the outside world. It is for this reason Royal Diadem School organized an educational tour for kindergarten pupils on the 19th of February, 2020. They visited the Chief's Palace, Police station and the Hospital as part of the requirements of their curriculum. This was to help learners know the special places in their community and its importance to the community.
At the Palace, they met the chief who took them through the history of the palace and also helped them to know the people at the palace and what they do. They were also taught the meaning of the different drums, the sounds they make and their significance. The kindergarten learners were privileged to witness the pouring of libation; something many of them had never seen before.
Their second destination was the police station. They learnt the ranks of the police officers and also seized the opportunity to see the cells in the police station - this was quite frightening to some of our learners. The learners were educated on the various departments in the police station and what they do. For example, the CID department investigates cases, the MTTU deals with anything that has to do with cars, motorcycle, road safety etc.
Lastly, they visited the GAEC hospital where they were taken round the various departments in the hospital and what they do. They were privileged to visit the laboratory, the maternity block, Out Patient Department, Pharmacy, treatment room, emergency/ICU and the general ward.

February 24-28, 2020 Pre-School Holds Career Day

"What do you want to be when you grow up?" That's a question all children seem to hear. Our learners today still dream of being a "grown up" and doing incredible things. At Royal Diadem, we celebrate our preschoolers desire to achieve, so career day has become an annual tradition. We held our career week from 24th to 28th February 2020. Our preschoolers had an opportunity to explore several career avenues for their future. During the career day, each learner wore career outfit. Our learners were clothed in outfits from doctors, builders and policemen to more ambitious ones like football players and dancers. During the day we gave children a chance to show off and explain their career costume to the class and also offer a range of career-related group activities to keep them focused on the theme. It was a lot of fun for the children, who thrived on the excitement of wearing something unique and taking photos in their costume.

February 20, 2020 Continuous Professional Development Day for Teachers

The CPDD programme at RDS established by the Ghana Education Service in 2019, is designed to improve staff's attributes, knowledge, understanding and skills. Our CPDD programme is not a 'bolt-on', but a continuous exercise in addressing individuals’ needs and supporting improvements in teacher’s professional practice over time.
Our CPDD organized on 20th February 2020 not only got our new staff up to speed and working at a very high level quickly, but to deeped and furthered the knowledge of our existing staff. Through the CPDD, we were able to provide opportunities for our staff to collaborate and share their expertise with others both within and outside their departments.
